trapping

this is not a fare poll on the question of trapping......one other question should be asked of the voters "should trappers on a legal trapline be made to keep traps well away from habituated areas and be made to clearly mark areas well away from, and, where the traps are laid so as to warn the public"
It really saddens me when I see a family pet, like the weatherman's dog, unnecessarily tortured in such a way, then it sickens and enrages me. I am sure this poor dog was not the first to succumb to such agony, and it certainly won't be the last. We have all heard the arguements that trapping is wildlife management, and if done "humanely" there is nothing cruel about it, and that trapping has been a way of life for generations, and provides trappers fresh air and exercise. You will never convince me that trapping is a "humane" way for animal conservation. Trapping is most definitely a cowardice, cruel, tortuous way to kill animals for financial gain, from fur wearing idiots. How does one sleep at night knowing that profit comes from the hands of suffering! If trapping is a "profession" that is well managed and respected, then where is this professional responsibility and accountability? My first encounter with a trapper was one in which he was setting his traps illegally: on private property without consent, and within 100m of a dwelling! ONE BAD APPLE? And please do not count on Conservation to regulate this "profession". I have yet to hear back in follow up for illegal trapping. Is Conservation also intimidated by the Romans, or just lazy? Trapping is an old, crude business-Thank God TRAPPERS ARE A DYING BREED- karma will no doubt sort them out!
I certainly understand that trapping here has been going on for a very long time and is part of the culture. However, would it be that difficult to warn people where traps are set in order to prevent further tragedy?
Hello again! I did some investigating and I did manage to find out where some of the traps are located and I am not pleased at all about it.The reason I used Mr. Snibbs is for the very same reason you mentioned about the Romans. We know the rules of small town clicks. I believe that there is no place left in this world for trap lines with leg hold traps. These people are living in the dark ages. Yes they do not understand the dangers of these because it is not them it is happening too! It would be a different story if their son or daughter was caught in them and it would be in the province paper and all of B.C. would know about it. I am soooo! sorry to hear about your dog as we have two ourselves and they are our children. So I can only imagine what you are going through! We have had dealings with small town politics in the past and are careful about what and how we say it. It is tragic that you had to find out this way. We hope your dog has a speedy recovery! Mr. Snibbs
Also The Weatherman's dog died in a trap, we didn't manage to get the trap open in time, it was a desperate fight. The trap was just beside Bonaparte lake dam at a place which was frequently visited by families with kids and dogs which left foot- and pawprints in the area. And the trap is there this winter again, so keep away from Bonaparte dam.
